Members and non-Members alike may present modules at SAIMechE seminars. Interest parties should contact Linda Robinson by supplying her with their name, business contact details, scope of expertise, suggested seminar topic/module title and appropriate overview or sub-points. Contact Linda Robinson on Tel. 031 764 7136 or write to her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Corporate and product promotions may not be conducted at seminars, therefore expertise rendered should be of generic orientation. Nevertheless, it is hoped that module presenters will utilise the opportunity to showcase their expertise and establish relationships with delegates and their companies. The benefits of face-to-face interaction between presenters and delegates should not be underestimated.
Upon meeting various workshop development criteria, SAIMechE Members may join the workshop programme as remunerated developers. In order to familiarize and assist new developers with workshop procedures, various steps and guidelines have been developed. Careful consideration has been given to establishing a smooth development process for both the experienced and inexperienced developer.
Two fees are paid; a facilitator's fee for presenting the developed workshop at each event and a developer's fee (royalty) payable on each attending delegate. To comply with SARS, as a non-standard employee of SAIMechE, the facilitator's fee attracts a 25% income tax deduction, whilst the royalty remuneration is made to an independent contractor and does not attract deduction of income tax.
All arrangements, including the facilitator's travel disbursements, are made and paid by SAIMechE. Prospective developers who wish to learn more about the programme are asked to contact Linda Robinson on Tel. 031 764 7136 or write to her at email@example.com.
